Heavenly Love

I prayed to Heaven up above,
please heal my wounded heart
and bring me love.

Time passed and my heart healed,
little by little, day by day.
Yet, I had not realized love
had then been sent my way.

You came to me as a friend.
We would talk for hours.
The healing began within
that time of ours.

You were patient, kind and strong,
just as a good friend would be.
You embraced my heart as your own.
Your love dwelt within me.

You cried with me when the pain
was too much to bear.
You brought laughter into my life again,
when none had dwelt there.

You would question when
I hid my fears deep inside.
I found myself bearing my soul to you,
revealing all that I had attempted
to hide.

Now, it is as though no love
had ever existed before.
You are all I ever wanted,
yet so much more.

Thus,
I give thanks to Heaven above.
for sending you to me
to know the meaning of true love.
